Hybrids are fantastic for people wanting to go on long rides but don't want to get a classic "road bike". Hybrids consist of a road or touring type of frame and wheel, but tend to offer lower gearing and a straight handlebar for a position lower than the comfort bike but not quite as low as a typical road bike. The tires are narrow in order to offer efficiency of pedal stroke in pavement. These bikes are a great choice for the rider who wants to maintain a more upright position, yet still wishes for the lightness and aerodynamic offered by the classic road bike.
